This new press release for LIGHTNING RETURNS™: FINAL FANTASY XIII reveals one of the other main environments available to explore in the game – called The Dead Dunes.

10309F_desert_fixThis region is covered with endless desert sands as far as the eye can see. Within it can be found the shanties which form a base for treasure hunters seeking their fortune in the arid wilderness, as well as ancient ruins said to conceal a divine treasure…

10306D_oasis_fixAlso included here, are images showing some of Lightning’s special abilities in action – including the slowing down of time to render foes helpless, and also, the recovery of damage sustained in battles.

  1. Oh my gosh! I dreamt last night about looking at Light’s new outfits! Looks like it came true! XD

  2. I can’t wait to play this game! Hopefully there’s a collector’s edition. The new region and her new outfits look awesome in these screenshots!

  3. Her new costumes are beginning to grow on me – love to see more :)
Those places actually look really nice! – i like exploring ruins (in game :p ) – interesting to find out the history behind them
Wanna know more about those monsters – either their Chaos’ dark minions or people/beings that have succumbed to darkness after a period of time (or they are weak and unable to hold it back) – turn into these monsters (kinda like cieth)

  4. Those aren’t really new cosutmes. Those are the two costumes that were shown a while back; Shadow Dust and Dark Muse. Dark Muse is the one in the first screenshot.

  5. It dose look like the graphics have improved a lot. This really makes me excited for the game. =) =) =)

    • I would venture to say not. It’s casting the same spell as the one Light’s facing, and *kinda* looks like Anubys (or some similar creature) with its arms raised up. On that note, I love the Egyptian flare they’ve added. I love that mythos, and I don’t believe they’ve ever tried it before. :)
