FINAL FANTASY XIV Letter from the Producer Part XVI Recap

Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer XIV livestream starts now! It will contain new details about the upcoming patches such as Defenders of Eorzea! Perhaps we will be hearing more about new jobs, marriage system and dungeons. Also, the lead designer of the game, Nobuaki Komoto, will be a special guest and answers fans’ questions as well!

We will update this post as new details are revealed

1. Naoki Yoshida and Toshio Murouchi are discussing about PvP modes: They are working on to a feature that allows you to save all actions and traits per job, so you don’t need to constantly re-do them.

2. In Patch 2.35, they will allow players to use glamours with PvP gear, and they will be adjusting the PvP mode in general as well.
More maps coming to Frontline but it will take some time. Japanese players are most active when it comes to this PvP mode!

3. Mob Hunt talk – a new addition which was released alongside patch 2.3 – allows you to hunt big monsters with other players and gain big rewards. The system has been slightly broken and players have found it a bit problematic, and it has been causing some tension because some players may have rushed too much and haven’t left anything for other players. They have adjusted the new mode a bit and will continue until it pleases everyone.

4. Talk about the Syrcus Tower.

5. Talk about the new dungeon called “Hullbreaker”. For now, we are only fighting Kraken’s tentacles but the Kraken itself will make a comeback later on.

6. A new video clip of Ixal Stronghold and an epic scene with different enemy races!

7.Time to talk about future contents!

8. Talk about Lightning and Snow!

9. A fan asked if there will be additional costumes or hairstyle from previous Final Fantasy series characters similar to Light and Snow where the developers answered they can’t say too much, but you will be able to get famous outfits and hairstyles from some quests added with certain patches!

10. Now they are showing the new Ninja job in action!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn once again appears in this year’s E3 expo to cover the recently released patch 2.3 Defenders of Eorzea and the upcoming patch 2.4.

During the Letter From The Producer Live @ E3 event producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed more details about the introduction of the marriage system in patch 2.4 and as we’ve reported yesterday players are allowed to marry regardless of race and gender. Another big reveal is the new damage-dealing class of Rogue -> Ninja, which is also coming at patch 2.4.

These agile fighters pride themselves on their skills with knives and daggers to make quick work of enemies.

Lurking in the shadows, adhering to no laws but their own, they punish the wicked, pilfering their ill-gotten gains and delivering them to the downtrodden masses. Thought by many to be mere common criminals, some would say they play an unseen hand in maintaining order in the buccaneer’s haven of Limsa Lominsa.

Hailing from the war-torn lands of the Far East, the secret arts of the ninja were born of necessity, and have since given rise to a unique breed of highly-trained combatants.

Able to manipulate the vital energies of the land, the air, and living beings, they manifest their power through the weaving of signs, unleashing a wide array of attacks against their foes. Master the arts of the ninja and learn to bend the tide of battle to your will.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Marriage System On Its Way | No Same-Sex Marriage?

Last night, another Final Fantasy XIV Producer Letter was broadcasted live. During the event, Famitsu got a chance to interview the producer Naoki Yoshida and the assistant director Hiroshi Takai. As they talked about the upcoming updates, Famitsu asked about the promised marriage system, which was teased for the game back in 2012.

The marriage system has been a very hot topic among the developers, said Hiroshi Takai. Weddings will be taking place at the “Sanctum of the Twelwe”, cathedral near Gridania. Currently the team is finalizing the system, and bride outfits and such are still in the works, added Yoshida. He also promised players will be soon able to marry their loved ones in-game, but the service won’t be available in the Patch 2.3, but perhaps soon after it.

The divorce system was also discussed: according to Yoshida, the player has 24 hours to cancel his/her decision. It will be as simple as deleting the ring.

Sanctum of the Twelve

Sanctum of the Twelve

There wasn’t any talk about same-sex marriage or possible limits of the system during the interview. However, in an earlier producer live letter it was stated that the same-sex marriage would be “extremely controversial topic”. We have to note that those comments were from 2012. After it, the same-sex marriage has been legalized in some states of US, France and UK. According to the official statement, it’s up to players and their feedback will there be changes to the system.

As for same-sex marriage, this is an extremely controversial topic that has been under discussion in the MMO world for the past few years. First we would like to start out with opposite-sex marriage, and then consider the feedback from our players in order to make a careful decision. I can’t say whether or not it will be possible at this point in time. I’d like to keep dialog open with our players as we deliberate the matter.  -A statement from 2012, Source.

What do you think about this? Should there be a possibility for everyone to get married in the game? Yes or no? Why not? Why yes?

Lightning Returns and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Won “Excellence” Awards at Famitsu Awards 2013

This week, the famous Japanese magazine Famitsu arranged their own “Famitsu Award 2013″ show where they rewarded the best games of 2013. It was no surprise Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn were both nominated alongside other successful titles such as The Last of Us and Monster Hunter 4.

While Monster Hunter 4 managed to snatch the game of the year award, both Lightning Returns and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn received “Excellence” awards from the “general” category. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn also won an additional “Excellence” rewards from PC/Mobile category, making it the best PC game of the year, according to Famitsu.

It’s rather crazy and amazing to see such a great recognition given to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. We aren’t only talking about these awards, but the good reception it received from the fans and critics in general. And the fact, the very first version of Final Fantasy XIV was pretty much a huge failure, makes this even more awesome. It’s great to see that fans’ feedback really hit Square Enix, who decided to rebuild the game from the very beginning and release it again. That’s something insane and nearly impossible, not all game companies would be ready to do or could even deliver.

As we saw last Fall, Final Fantasy XIV was revived in style and rise like a phoenix from the ashes by gaining great sales and good review scores. And the success of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn continues as Square Enix just announced the game has over 2 000 000 subscribers / players worldwide! This is a great example and lesson in life that after a failure you shouldn’t immediately give up even though others may doubt you. Listening to feedback, believing in yourself and focusing on things you are good at, can lead to amazing results.

Don’t you think that it’s a good time to jump in one of the coolest MMOs around, and experience how a true Final Fantasy multiplayer game feels like? Especially, when you can use PS4′s party chat to communicate with your friends during the gameplay!
