New Dragon Quest X Screenshots!

Square Enix Japan has released a new patch of Dragon Quest X screenshots. The game will be released this fall for Wii in Japan! They recently told about new support systems which allows players do something else than just play all the day and still get some bonus about that! Read the article here.

Dragon Quest X: Introducing New Support Systems

Nintendo has posted a new “Iwata Asks” article to their site. This time it was about Dragon Quest X which is heading to Wii this fall in Japan. In this interview Iwata interviewed director Jin Fujisawa, producer Yousuke Saito and creator of the series and game designer Hori Yuuji, and talked about new player supporting systems of the game.

In the interview Fujisawa states that Dragon Quest X will be different to the most current casual games with its message. Normally the message of casual games is “We want you to play every day”, but the message of Dragon Quest X is “It’s okay even if you don’t play every day.”

Introducing new support systems

In fact, the game has systems that are designed with the idea that players may not necessarily play every day. Hori wanted to make sure that DQX won’t ruin people’s daily lives. In response to this request, the development team came up with three different kinds of systems.

The first system is Support Allies where other players can use your character in their parties when you aren’t playing. This let’s characters grow and receive experience and gold, even if you’re offline.

The second system is called Genkidama/Energy Balls. The game has a meter which charges when you aren’t playing. When meter has charged a certain amount, you’ll gain an energy ball. This energy ball will give you double experience and gold for 30 minutes. Fujisawa said that players who only play on the weekend will receive enough energy balls to continuously play with double gold and experience.

The third system is Support Gold. If you reach a certain location as part of your progress through the game, you’ll be rewarted a certain amount of gold every week.
