Square Enix announces that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has surpassed their initial sales expectations, with the game having more than 1.5 million registered players since its PC and PS3 release.

Original expectations of estimated net sales ranged between 59 billion yen ($598 million) and 63 billion yen ($639 million), while Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has reached 61.7 billion yen ($626 million), higher than their lower estimate mark.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will launch a PS4 beta on the 22nd of February.
