Square Enix has announced Nier 2 at E3 2015! The game is currently in development for PlayStation 4 by Square Enix and Platinum Games. The development has started very recently, but we can expect more details arriving this Autumn. According to Atsuhi Inaba, the next NieR game will be influenced by Platinum Games’ speciality – over the top high speed action we have seen in games like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising and Vanquish.

The first NIER game was an action adventure video game developed by Cavia and published by Square Enix. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In Japan, it received two versions: NieR Gestalt and NieR Replicant, where Replicant featured different main character as Gestalt. Not many know this, but the game is really a spin-off from the Drakengard series, and follows the fifth ending of the first game. The story is set over one thousand years after the events of which left Earth in a state of destruction. The main character Nier attempts to find a cure for her daughter Yonah’s iMore characters like Kaine and Emil are joining Nier’s journey as he attempts to find a remedy. Similar to Drakengard, Nier combines hack ‘n slash and RPG features together.
