The first episode of Life is Strange will be out next week everyone!
The second Life is Strange developer diary, titled as “Butterfly Effect”, explains everything you need to know about Max’s ability to rewind time, including how the concept originated and exactly how rewinding time in Life is Strange works. It also shows behind the scenes footage from Dontnod’s studio and the developers giving a deeper insight into the game and its world.
The name of the effect, Butterfly Effect, comes from Edward Lorenz’s metaphor where minor perturbations such as the flapping of the wings of a butterfly, can influence and cause big events or even natural disasters such as hurricanes several weeks later. How does this adapt to Life Is Strange? It means that even the player’s smallest choices during the gameplay, can have a major influence to the outcome.
Life Is Strange is scheduled for release on 30th January, 2015. It will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. You can buy each of five episodes separately or purchase the season pass to get all episodes immediately after they release. A new episode arrives approx. 6-7 weeks after the release of the last one.
