Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Announced for PlayStation 4

KH0Square Enix today revealed that development has begun on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue at SCEJA Press Conference. It’s a compilation that brings Kingdom Hearts [Dream Drop Distance] to PlayStation 4 and contains a brand new episode – preparing the fans for Kingdom Hearts III.

Originally, Kingdom Hearts [Dream Drop Distance] was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2012 and now it’s getting a HD remaster. It follows the story of protagonists Sora and Riku who take on the Mark of Mastery exam in preparation for coming threats.

This newly remastered title also features:

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep A Fragmentary Passage: A completely new playable episode that links to the story of Kingdom Hearts III, taking place after the storyline of Birth by Sleep played from the perspective of Aqua.

KINGDOM HEARTS χ [chi] Back Cover: A new HD movie that tells the mysterious story of the Foretellers, connecting the earliest parts of the series’ history.

The new announcement trailer will debut on the official KINGDOM HEARTS YouTube channel on Thursday, Sept. 17. (Pst… th unofficial versions are available already…)

  1. I didn’t think that they would be able to make a playable version of 3D for Playstation due to the controls – but i am surprised and happy they managed to do it :D

    When it came to 2.8 (previously 2.9) – i was thinking it would be a demo for KH3, a movie version of 3D and something else added in as a bit of an extra – but this is better than i thought! – be great to play 3D again, forgot about BBS Vol.2 and considering it is new this should be interesting! – it’ll probably show Aqua finding a way out of the Dark Realm and onwards – i’m not expecting it to be big though – something short – and with Chi – i am so glad we got something from this game – as i am unable to play it – to learn everything about the Foretellers, previous Keyblade Wielders and the Keyblade War will be very interesting! – excited! :D
