Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis will be releasing on December 13, 2017. It tells a new story from Ignis’ perspective during the fight against Niflheim forces and Leviathan in Altissia. You will also get a chance to learn more about his and Noctis’ relationship in their childhood. As the city turns into a warzone, Ignis gets separated from Gladiolus and Prompto, and meets Ravus in the city ruins. This unexpected duo decides to team up in order to save Noctis and Luna. However, things don’t go as expected and Ignis will collide with Ardyn. As Noctis is still defenceless, Ignis has to make a quick decision to keep the crown prince safe. “Please forgive me…”, Ignis says as the ring of Lucis lingers on his finger. Will he be able to last the burden of the ring?

episode-ignisIn the gameplay sections, Ignis gets to explore the Altissian warzone by foot and boat. He also has new tools such as “jump hook” that allows him to quickly climb buildings. New features has been also added in the combat: Ignis can use newly styled elemental spells and gets a damage multiplier as the combo improves. Ignis can also command Ravus to do special attacks and link strikes.

This episode also features multiple endings, and some of the alternative ones differ significantly from what happens in the main game. The developers expect the episode to last from 1-2 hours depending on the player, with multiple endings demanding maybe up to 2-3 hours. After completing the story, you will unlock “Extra Battle” mode where Ignis gets to challenge Noctis for 1 vs. 1 fight. It’s said to be very hard fight, so prepare for a challenge! In this mode, Ignis can also utilise his jump hook to interact with environment like pulling down a billboard that Noctis is using to hide from him.

Square Enix has invited Yasunori Mitsuda to compose music for Episode Ignis. New track such as “A United Front”, “Episode Ignis -Main Theme-” and “Theme of Ravus”, the composer hopes to capture the emotions and personality from both Ignis and Ravus.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis will be releasing on December 13, 2017. It’s free for season pass owners and available as a separate purchase.  Final Fantasy XV is now available for PS4 and Xbox One, with Windows Edition releasing for PC in Early 2018.
