JAEPO 2015
– Square Enix today announced that they will be releasing a new “Dissidia Final Fantasy” game for arcades.

The third installment in the series will be featuring new gameplay elements such as a 3 vs. 3 battle system where up to six players can fight against each other at the same time. Since the series is moving away from the handheld consoles, the visuals will be receiving a significant upgrade as well. During the representation, the developers revealed that even the new key art was created with the in-game engine.

And what would a new Dissidia game be without new characters? The premiere trailer introduces us with returning heroes such as Warrior of Light, Lightning, Cloud Strife, Terra Branford and Onion Knight, but also a new hero from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – Y’shtola. The development team didn’t reveal are they planning to bring Final Fantasy XV or Final Fantasy Type-0 HD characters to the game. However, they told the press that  the next representation is scheduled to happen on 10th April 2015  and we will be getting new information there.

The screenshots are taken from the Youtube version of the trailer, which is why they are low quality. Expect higher quality screenshots soon.

  1. Best news to come home too! :D
Looks so good – suddenly reminded of how long i spent on the first game (550+ hrs – almost fully completed it too lol) – still need to finish the 2nd game
If this comes to the PS4 – i’m SOLD! :D

    • There’s a tradition in Japan that all fighting games tend to be released for arcades at first, but later on they will arrive for home consoles. For example, Pokken Tournament, Tekken and many others. So… There might be a chance this ends up being released for PS4 and Xbox One-

      • I seriously hope this is the case. I’ve been greatly anticipating a new Dissidia for the longest time. Although, even if there is a console port, will it really be Dissidia? I don’t think arcades feature character story modes for numerous heroes, accessories, equipment–you know, personal player progress. Then again, I haven’t been to an arcade in ages.

      • Don’t forget Gunslinger Stratos for PC and maybe for consoles. There’s a chance that could even come west. One condition: don’t dub. English voices in that kind of game never sound convincing.
