Square Enix Promotes Their Mangas With Trailers

SEmanga
It’s not very common knowledge that Square Enix also publishes manga under their Gangan Comics label. They have many talented artists working on projects and the company has started to promote new mangas with trailers featuring voice acting and music. One of the first series to receive this treatment is “Tales of the Wedding Rings”.

As said before, many people may not be aware that their favorite anime series might be based on mangas, which are originally published by Square Enix. For example, many of my favorite series such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Tari Tari and Barakamon are released by Square Enix. These mangas have been turned into animes and even games featuring talented voice actors, great soundtracks, immersive worlds and great stories. The said series are introduced in short excerpts below. However, Square Enix doesn’t publish mangas in the West anymore and they have sold publishing rights for Yen Press.

Barakamon  is a manga series written and illustrated by Satsuki Yoshino. It started serialization in Square Enix’s Gangan Online in 2009. The series follows a story of Seishū Handa who is a professional calligrapher who gets in trouble after hitting the elderly curator of an art exhibition who criticized his calligraphy for being too unoriginal. As result of this incident, Seishu’s father directs him off from Tokyo to Goto Island which inspired the father creating his own calligraphy style many years before.. At the island, Seishu meets many new colorful and genuine people who teach him a lot about life and art.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. It was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine between August 2001 and June 2010; the publisher later collected the individual chapters into twenty-seven tankōbon volumes. The world of Fullmetal Alchemist is styled after the European Industrial Revolution. Set in a fictional universe in which alchemy is one of the most advanced scientific techniques, the story follows the Elric brothers Edward and Alphonse, who are searching for a philosopher’s stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life using alchemy.

Tari Tari is a 13-episode 2012 Japanese anime television series produced by P.A. Works and directed by Masakazu Hashimoto. A manga adaptation illustrated by Tomiyaki Kagisora was serialized in Square Enix’s Gangan Joker in 2012. The story centers around five Japanese high school students who are too young to be called adults, but who no longer think of themselves as children. Wakana Sakai once took music lessons, but she withdrew from music after losing her mother. Konatsu Miyamoto is a positive-thinking girl who loves singing and spends time after school at the vocal music club. Sawa Okita is a spirited archery club member who dreams of becoming a horse rider. Taichi Tanaka is a chronically late badminton team member who lives with his college student sister. “Wien” just transferred into Wakana’s class after 12 years abroad in Austria. Music brings Wakana, Konatsu, Sawa and the others together into an ensemble during their last summer in high school.

  1. Long time ago i read (hope its not fake) Square Enix told that when soul eater manga takes his end they will make the complete manga in anime. It was soul eater late show and soul eater repeat show and both of them with only half of manga cos it was unfinished.. Now manga finished some time ago by now., being also animated Not! that already finished in manga in this time.. so now.. When will Square Enix take that promise made and show us the real manga based Soul Eater complete anime show (with late quality or more if its possible)? A lot of people are waiting for it, included obviusly me.

  2. Dayum that’s a big list :u
Out of it i’ve only read a couple of them – FF, KH, FMA, Black Butler, Jackals, Twin Signal, Zelda, Darker than Black, read some of Pandora Hearts…. – should really check out more at some point but it’s cool they’re doing trailers for them
