Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts Voice Actor Chikao Ōtsuka Passes Away

We’ve some sad news to tell you. Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts voice actor Chikao Ōtsuka has passed away at age 85, according to Aoni Production. For Square Enix games fans, he is best-known from voicing Master Xehanort and Captain Hook in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts. He has also done voice work for Final Fantasy XII as Doctor Cidolfus Demen Bunansa.

He also acted in many animes such as Moomins, Bayblade, One Piece and Mobile Suit Gundam. Alongside Final Fantasy XII and the Kingdom Hearts games, he has played in the Sonic games as Eggman, the Tales of Xillia games as Maxwell, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots as Big Boss, Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Böse as Pope Sergius XVII and many other titles. You can learn more about him here.

  1. My goodness. Several notable Japanese voice actors have been passing away recently. They will need to find someone to replace him as Xehanort.
