Eternal Bond is now available on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Read more details here!

Last Spring, the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn team revealed that the marriage system has been a very hot topic among the developers and it will be added to the game in the future updates. At E3 2014, Naoki Yoshida also confirmed Final Fantasy XIV will be supporting same-sex marriage because they see no reason to restrict the bond of marriage. This means everyone will be able to marry their loved ones in Final Fantasy XIV.

During the Tokyo Game Show Live Letter, the developers confirmed the marriage system will be arriving in the upcoming patch 2.45. It will be known as “Eternal Bond”. The team is still working on the marriage system and currently developing a reservation mechanism that allows the players to set the date and time for their wedding, which will be taking place at the “Sanctum of the Twelve”. (a cathedral near Gridania) All married couples will also unlock a special Chocobo which can only be ridden by them.

Sometimes you may regret your decisions, which is why they have prepared the divorce system. According to Yoshida, the player has 24 hours to cancel his/her decision. It will be as simple as deleting the ring. [This part may be dated now]
